MAYAN VILLAGES
Near Camp Toucan, Mayan people live in villages in rustic cabins, as they have for thousands of years. The walls of the cabins are made of thick vertical sticks, with a little space between them, so air circulates through the cabin. The roofs are made of jungle foliage, tied in bundles, then tied to a stick framework.

Mayan boys use the unfinished stick structure of the roof of a new cabin as a sort of jungle gym. Literally.
